Accreditation

The Louisiana Culinary Institute (LCI) is Licensed by the State of Louisiana Board of Regents, as a Proprietary School.

Program

The Louisiana Culinary Institute currently offers a Diploma program in the Professional Cooking and Culinary Arts. Students of the Institute have the opportunity to becomes nationally certified through the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation in Sanitation, Nutrition, Presenting Service, and Professional Cooking. 

Financial Aid

Louisiana Culinary Institute offers both merit-based and need-based financial aid.  Scholarships awarded in 2004 averaged $1,500.00. 

Course Length

The Louisiana Culinary Institute's Program is based on a Clock Hour System.  Classes are held Monday thru Friday, from 9 am to 2:30 pm. This is 5 hours per day, 5 days per week for a weekly total of 25 hours. (Minus 30 minutes per day for lunch).

The Institute offers a curriculum approved and recommended by the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation. Our Course Program is 1200 hours in length and takes 48 weeks or 12 months excluding holidays to complete.

Stage Program

Outstanding students at Louisiana Culinary Institute have the opportunity to participate in one of our several stage programs, working in world-renown kitchens such as Commander's Palace in New Orleans, LA and Mansur's on the Boulevard in Baton Rouge, LA.

Job Placement Assistance

 LCI has a Job Placement Assistance Program, available both to current students and alumni.  This program has been widely responsible for excellent employment trends for Louisiana Culinary Institute alumni, enjoying one of the highest rates of employment at some of the best restaurants in the nation.

Student-to-Faculty Ratio

One of the great charms of the Institute is its close-knit atmosphere.  Students enjoy personal class sizes, averaging about 10:1.

Student Council

Louisiana Culinary Institute features the Council of Student Culinarians, which promotes community fund-raisers, student events, and assists in student concerns. 

Statement of Philosophy

The Louisiana Culinary Institute's purpose is to educate its students to become world-class professionals in food service operations. Its intent is to provide its students with the appropriate knowledge and skills in professional cooking techniques, sanitation, nutrition and day-to-day business operations to successfully operate and manage a food service facility. By doing so the Institute's goal is to fulfill the ever-growing need for culinary professionals in the food service industry
