Culinary Arts Degree Program
The Culinary Arts program at Yorktowne Business Institute, located on North George Street in York, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1998 to serve a growing need in the region for culinary, food service and hospitality training.
As an established post-secondary institution, Yorktowne Business Institute was uniquely positioned to tap into the needs of the food service industry.
The 16 month culinary arts program awards the Associate in Specialized Technology Degree. Our graduates will immediately qualify for positions in restaurants, hotels, clubs, resorts, convention centers, cruise lines and institutions working as:
Sous Chefs, Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, Garde Manger, Kitchen Managers, Dining Room Managers, General Managers and Restaurant Owners.
Our new student-run restaurant is now open to the public!
Yorktowne Business Institute also features a very active placement service and routinely boasts a placement rate of between 90 and 100%. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
Baking and Pastry Program
In addition to the full degree program, The School of Culinary Arts offers a short-term Baking & Pastry program that can be completed in as little as 8 months.
Students in the Baking & Pastry program will learn the science of baking as well as the art of decorating and sculpting. As with the degree program, graduates will earn national certifications in sanitation.
Hands on classes utilize the same new state-of-the-art kitchen facilities as the degree program and a four week externship experience is included.
Hotel, Convention, and Hospitality Management Program
This program teaches all aspects of Hotel, Dining Room and Events Management. The curriculum covers the history and development of tourism, Front Office Management, Customer Service, Marketing, Human Resources and more.
The program includes a special culinary arts segment tailored for hospitality managers that provides essential knowledge of food and beverage purchasing and preparation. A strong entrepreneurial component is especially valuable for students who are planning to own their own hospitality business.
The 16 month program also includes a mandatory six week externship.
