PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Associate in Applied Science in Culinary Arts provides the student with a hands-on approach to develop the skills, techniques, and knowledge needed to become a successful professional in the food service industry. Partnerships with local hotels and restaurants (i.e. The Cliff House) are used to strengthen the academic and learning environment through sponsored events and site visitations. Related instruction provides training in customer/employee relations, food service sanitation, management techniques, inventory control, menu planning, and operational cost control.

York County Technical College has an affiliation with the Maine Innkeepers Association (MIA), the Maine Restaurant Association (MRA), The Council on Hotel-Restaurant Institutional Education (CHRIE), the American Culinary Federation (ACF), and the New England Innkeepers Association, which enhances the quality of the Culinary Arts Program and provides additional opportunities to students
